Season Closing: British Garden Party

Wednesday, May 29, 2019 - 18:00

On 29 May BritCham celebrated 2 occasions with a British Garden Party at the restaurant and terrace of Radisson Blu Elizabete Hotel – both the closing of Season 2018/2019 and the conclusion of British Business Days 2019.

Right from the start the arriving guests could feel the celebratory atmosphere as they were welcomed in the delightfully decorated venue with a glass of prosecco and excellent music played by Mirage Jazz Orchestra. Thank you to RISEBA University of Applied Sciences for making sure the venue looked truly festive, and to “Singh’s” restaurant and Amber Beverage Group for providing the drinks.

After the welcome speech from the British Ambasador Keith Shannon and BritCham Deputy Chairman Simon Boddy our special guest Alan Coxon, the world-renowned chef and the Ambassador for "Food is GREAT" campaign did a captivating and highly entertaining presentation on the menu that he and Radisson Blu Elizabete Hotel chef Aleksandrs Košanskis had prepared for us. Alan treated us with preparing Indian street food-Pani Puri and Almond Blancmange with a Casserole of Summer berries, Pimms Jelly and Cardamon  Biscuit for dessert. That was an honest delight to eat and see!

As every year BritCham Season Closing was a family event. All the younger attendees were entertained and at the Kids’ corner organized by Exupery International School. Our thanks to them for a job well done (and appreciated).

As in every truly British party we also had a raffle. Thanks to our wonderful ticket sellers Stephen Hanson and Mark Robertson-Jones the guests had an opportunity to win great prizes from Casa Nostra, CBRE Baltics, ESPA Riga, Young Riders School, Radisson Blu Daugava Hotel, Radisson Blu Elizabete Hotel, Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & SPA Hotel, Radisson Blu Rīdzene Hotel and department store “Stockmann”. Many thanks to all who supported the traditional raffle.

Lastly but not leastly we would like to thank Vitol Baltics for sponsoring the British Business Days.

The Party was a great opportunity for our members and friends to meet, relax a bit and enjoy a lovely evening in fantastic company. We hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did, and we will see you all at the Season Opening: Curry Cook-Off in September.
