Radisson Morning Roundtable: Corruption & Dishonesty in the Business Community

Thursday, November 1, 2018 - 08:30

On the morning of 1 November BritCham members met at the Observation Deck of Radisson Blu Daugava Hotel for the Radisson Morning Roundtable: Corruption & Dishonesty in the Business Community. The 2nd morning discussion event was led by Marta Jaksona, Executive Director of Foreign Investors‘ Council in Latvia (FICIL) and was attended by our members from various businesses and NGOs to share their experience and knowledge on corruption and the various aspects of it, as well as debate the possible approaches for improving the situation in Latvia.

All attendees took a very active and enthusiastic part in the conversation inspired by this complicated topic and the discussions continued well after the official part was finished. It was recognized that corruption is not just a problem when doing business and that the government should be encouraged to work on a general anti-corruption programme as well as the specific, industry focussed laws that are being implemented and developed lately.

A letter outlining the issues discussed and the main concerns raised at this Roundtable will be prepared and sent to FICIL to be reviewed at their Economic and Financial crime issues work group.

We would like to send our thanks to Marta Jaksona for initiating and guiding the Roundtable discussion. Also many thanks to our hosts Radisson Blu Daugava Hotel for the breakfast and for providing such a great venue.
