Joint Chamber Luncheon with Chairwoman of Financial and Capital Market Comission Santa Purgaile

Thursday, January 23, 2020 - 12:00 to 14:00

On Thursday 23 January BritCham together with Irish, Norwegian, Swedish and Swiss Chambers of Commerce organised a joint discussion with Ms Santa Purgaile, Chairwoman of Financial and Capital Market Commission. The event gathered more than 80 foreign and local business representatives who wanted to hear from the chief financial regulator about what to expect in regards to the financial market development in Latvia and access to capital. During the luncheon Ms Santa Purgaile talked about changes in compliance culture as well as future challenges and tasks for Latvian Government to regain the trust of foreign investors.

Guests were particularly interested whether Latvia has done enough to clean up its financial sector to avoid being graylisted come FATF decision in February.

The conversation was moderated by Andris Lazdins, Associate Partner at Ellex Klavins and Co-head of Economic and Financial crime issues work group at the Foreign Investors' Council in Latvia.

We would like to thank Law Office Ellex Klavins for co-hosting the event.
