Farewell call with British Ambassador H.E. Keith Shannon

H.E. Keith Shannon has completed his term as British Ambassador to the Republic of Latvia.  He will be replaced next month by Paul Brummell C.M.G.

During his time in Latvia Keith was pleased to be our Honorary Chairman and threw his weight and that of the Embassy behind us.  He attended many of our events and, much to participants’ delight re-introduced “Breakfast with the Ambassador” for our Platinum Members.  His involvement was especially highlighted by the fact that he hosted our New Members’ Evening last October in what was our final BritCham Members’ Only event before the Pandemic closed in again for the Winter.  We will miss him and his support greatly.

Ambassadors come and ambassadors go and that is the way of the diplomatic world.  We said goodbye to Keith last Monday in a small, socially distanced but friendly gathering at the Ambassador’s Residence and presented him with a couple of shirts as fun mementos of Latvia and a BritCham certificate which expressed our gratitude.  We wish Keith continued long-term success and, in the short term, fun in renewing life with Kate in the dales of Yorkshire where he will find his cycling surroundings somewhat different to those he has been experiencing in Latvia!

Farewell Keith!  We will miss you.
