English Law in Commercial Transactions

The British Chamber of Commerce in Latvia kicked off its first of three British Business Days 2019 campaign on Monday 27 May, with the “English Law in Commercial Transactions” seminar at the Grand Palace Hotel.

This seminar and networking event was organised in cooperation with our Platinum member, Eversheds Sutherland Bitāns law office. The successful event welcomed 36 expert representatives from Latvia’s legal, financial and business communities engaging in a intensive and educational three hour session. 

Māris Vainovskis, Deputy Chairman of the British Chamber of Commerce and Senior partner at Eversheds Sutherland Bitāns opened the comprehensive discussion with a presentation on the competitive advantages and use of the English law, which was followed by a panel debate and views from businesses and practitioners in Latvia, and we would like to thank our panellists, John Tully, CEO of MikroTik, Oliver Bramwell, CEO of PNB Banka and Egons Piķelis, Partner& Co-head of Banking & Finance Practice Group at Ellex Kļaviņš law office.
