Annual General Meeting 2020

Wednesday, June 10, 2020 - 09:30 to 11:00

The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of BritChamwas held on-line on 10 June 2020.

The meeting had been deferred from its original date of 31 March 2020 applying “force majeure” following the declaration by the Latvian Government on 13 March 2020 of a State of Emergency due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic.  It had been decided that the AGM would be held when practicable and if it appeared impossible to hold it in a reasonable, sensible, physical manner in the foreseeable future.

The meeting was opened by H.E. The British Ambassador to Latvia, Keith Shannon, as Honorary Chairman, who made a brief presentation welcoming attendees and reflecting pleasure at the performance of BritCham and of its co-operation with the British Embassy in Riga.  The Ambassador also drew attention to the great changes that had occurred in all business practice, including diplomacy, as a result of the pandemic.

Following the Ambassador’s introduction, the meeting went through its usual business under the guidance of the chairman, Cameron Greaves.  Matters discussed included General BritCham News, Membership, Charity, Finance, Future plans and Board matters. Mr Māris Vainovskis, a Deputy Chairman of BritCham, made a short presentation by video of some of BritCham’s activities during the year and of the benefits of BritCham membership.

The following had presented themselves for either re-election or election to the Board:

  • Simon Digby Boddy;
  • Daina Dzirkale;
  • Cameron Geoffrey Greaves;
  • Alberts Hārvejs Pincis; and
  • Irina Senņikova;

The votes had been cast by completion of an on-line ballot and had been counted by 2 independent  adjudicators.
